Legends Steakhouse

After falling in love with their location in Shelbyville, TN, I offered to meet some friends at their Smyrna, TN location. It did not disappoint.

Legends is one of those old-fashioned steak-and-potato type of restaurants. When you walk in, it is dark because of all the wood paneling and it immediately lets you know- this will be a cozy, comfort-food type of place.

We were seated quickly, in a booth. A word about restaurant seating choices here, because it's my blog and I can go off on tangents if I want! LOL! Booth springs can get worn down and make the booth uncomfortable to sit in. If the table doesn't move, they can be set too closely together making it hard for larger people or those with mobility issues to get in and out. And heaven forbid you wear shorts or a short skirt in warmer weather- you will likely loose skin trying to peel your way out. Seats can be too hard and make your bottom go numb if you like to linger and talk. But of all the dining choices, high top chairs are the worst offenders. They combine the hardness of chairs with the uncomfortableness of having to climb up into them and then spend your time either dandling your legs like a 3-year-old or fighting to maintain your dignity while hooking your feet on your own or your neighbor's chairs like some gross miscarriage of the game of footsie. For the love of good dining, some revolutionary needs to come up with a comfortable seating solution that stands up to wear and tear while being comfortable for all body types and mobility levels. You will be hailed as a genius and remembered, on this blog at least, as a god!

Anyway, our waitress was very attentive and friendly. In fact, I think she got a bit antsy as the third member of our party couldn't be there as early as we could, but she never gave us a hard time or an attitude. And then....wait for it....she brought the bread! Ah! Free bread!! Is there anything more sublime in the dining experience?? It may be why I don't care for Mexican restaurants- they give free chips instead and it. IS. NOT. THE SAME THING! Plus, the softy, yeasty bread at Legends comes with....hold for a moment of suspense...CINAMMON BUTTTER! Now, I can tell you that their salad was excellent and came with homemade dressing or that their potato soup is so thick I literally took it home to water it down and have for a couple of meals, but I think I have already made my point that it is a good restaurant just with the cinnamon butter comment and if I haven't, then I am not sure you and I can be friends.

And if you have made it this far with all the words and complete lack of pictures, then good for you! Here's a cute cat as your reward!
