Ripley's

So, starting a business is obviously full of perils and pitfalls and one of them, of course, is the lack of a steady income. So, until my shop hits it big- please spread the word! - I also work part-time at Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach. And yes, it is pretty fun! The staff is awesome- they know their stuff and are always super helpful and the customers are great- they are people on vacation who are excited to see marine life up close and personal and it keeps the workday humming!
One of my favorite parts about working at Ripley's is the chance to see the animals. For example, below is a picture of one of our puffer fish, whom I have affectionately nicknamed the Football, because he is roughly the size and shape of a football. Now, before I worked here, I always assumed fish were fairly boring as far as animal personalities go, but no! They are just as drama-prone, cantankerous, and yes, even loving as any 4-legged mammal! I was able to see this pufferfish swim to the surface of his tank and START WAGGING HIS TAIL LIKE A DOG as he watched his keeper approach with his mid-day meal. It was adorable! Sadly, I did not get that encounter on video, but when I spoke to his keeper afterwards, he said yes- every day he gets greeted with the same level of excitement! Aww! Is it any wonder that animals send me over the moon?
