To Suck the Marrow Out of Life

Hi! I am Fat Chick.
I'm 47, single with no kids. That's not quite true...I am a proud fur-mom of 1 cat and a dog. True confessions: I hate the term fur-mom. I think it is derivative to real moms who have a very hard, 24/7 job. I also think it doesn't really capture the pet/owner dynamic. But what term do you use to adequately describe a relationship that can consume your time, attention, and emotions while allowing you to bond with a creature who is 100% dependent on you and 100% devoted to you? (Fine print disavowal- not all cats will always be 100% devoted to you. Your individual emotional connection with your cat will vary. Terms and conditions do apply.) It is a relationship, and it is built around emotional investments, and it is rewarding and aggravating all at the same time. Oh- and you will bear the burden of anyone who becomes disgruntled by your pet's behavior. So, ya know....it's parenthood. So yeah...I have 2 fur-children. And this, is Little Dog.
AKA: Clifford. AKA: The Baby. He was named after my father's middle name and yes, an ironic use of Norman Bridwell's childhood classic masterpiece- Clifford the Big Red Dog. Beside him were his two partners in crime, the twins, Romulous and Remus. AKA: The Favorite and The Heffalump. And to be clear, when I adopted the twins, my first instinct was to call them Laurel and Hardy, but my friends wouldn't let me do that...killjoys...Sadly, I lost Romulous last year and Remus is not doing so well this year. What is it they say? The days may come along slowly, but the years pass quickly. I savor every moment I can with my babies.
So, this is my family. My goal in life is to find as many moments of joy as possible so that when I review my life, I will find more good than bad. Since I love exploring, this store will be devoted to revealing the treasures that I find, especially the things that send me over the moon! And since 90% of dog ownership is guilt about making sure the dog has a good life, Clifford will likely be involved in a large quantity of my adventures. Except the restaurants. Prejudice against fur children and all...
So that's it. Nothing radical or revolutionary, but hopefully enjoyable. I look forward to hearing from you all about what you have found in life that sends you Over the Moon and who knows? Maybe I can feature it in my store!
